Well, of course it's about my life and stuff I think about. Just like a quadzillionbazillion other bloggers. I'm obsessed with God. I love beauty, enjoy absurdity, dance with despair, seek silence, and think everyone is goofy. Here's my world and what I think of it....

So real...
Not sure what the war on fasting is that seems to be a prevalent theme among Orthodox bloggers. Surely there are other hypocrisies that engaged in, perhaps singing in the choir or simply attending Divine Liturgy? Fasting is a means to overcome these things, but it seems many are resentful of it.
I never understood it when the church fathers said that to overcome our sins it takes prayer and fasting. But what if fasting makes you sin because you're irritable from fasting?
Both Anons, The irony of fasting is that it is supposed to be a private affair with God. The only people that talk incessantly about it are converts (generally) except for the Fathers they quote to prove their points. A cradle Orthodox person once told a group of us converts, "I wish you guys would just shut up about fasting and just do it." Blogging about fasting is probably the 21st Century equivalent of what Jesus was talking about how not to do it in the Sermon on the Mount.
Anon2, Fasting doesn't "make us sin", it just exposes our weaknesses. The cartoon basically says, "This is your real life... your fasting is an ego trip." Which in itself is just another sin.
I agree with S-P
