Well, of course it's about my life and stuff I think about. Just like a quadzillionbazillion other bloggers. I'm obsessed with God. I love beauty, enjoy absurdity, dance with despair, seek silence, and think everyone is goofy. Here's my world and what I think of it....

This would be a great first post for the "Orthodox Behaving Badly" blog that (surprisingly) no one has started yet - at least not under that name. Several do exist, however, under different names.
That's a concept...a news service blog that summarizes all the other blogs about "Orthodox Behaving Badly". In the grand scheme of things I've been in parish council meetings that were "American genteel nicey nice" but what was really going on was pretty much like this (or worse).
Maybe this video should be required viewing for catechumens, in the interest of relieving them of certain romantic visions of how "perfect" their new church is.
deb, yep. I generally think if someone converts after reading "Orthodoxy on the blogosphere" for any length of time they've been forewarned. :)
The real shame here is that both teach the love of Christ, but can't seem to practice it toward one another, as is apparent throughout the world between any two groups. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on us!
ok before I knew this fight was a real fight, I was busting a gut.
Now I feel...awkward...
It's at least an *old* story at that famous church. You can see why long ago they had to all agree for a Muslim to hold the key to the church. One thing the Ottomans provided was a neutral corner in a dysfunctional round church! There's a great old account of a deadly Pascha in the place recorded by Robert Curzon in the 1830's (P 193 here):

It's still a good place to know about and not visit, it seems.
