Orthographs Go Down Under
Orthographs are no longer just for the enjoyment of American convert monkabees!
Anastasia, an online friend from New Zealand (which I now know is east of Australia, not IN Australia), visits the Greek monastery there frequently. She recently took a copy of the book of "Orthographs" and gave it to the monks as a gift. This was sent to me this afternoon by someone from the monastery who said the monks are enjoying the book. I think they're trying to figure out a way to read them at trapeza. :)
If anyone is interested in bookstore or multiple copy bulk discounts, click on my profile and contact me at the link to my email, I'll be glad to work with you.

Apology
...to those who viewed the last post. (It's gone.)

My Daughter, JD
My oldest daughter graduated from Phoenix School of Law today. She is the exiting Student Body President, a Moot Court competitor and was selected by her peers to speak on behalf of the student body at their graduation ceremony.
This is her speech. I have no idea where she gets her sense of humor and affability from, but I'm certainly one proud father today.

Snapshot of Providence
So, two weeks ago I was picking up Moo as he was burrowing under the house. When I did his back leg kicked back and scratched my wrist. I washed it and went on with my life. A couple days later the scratches looked like red tapioca. I couldn't afford it, but I went to an urgent care center. The doctor grimaced and said, "Wow, how did that happen?" I told her "My turtle scratched me..." She looked puzzled. I said, "He's THIS big" holding my arms in a circle. She said, that's a new one on me I'll have to go look at something. I told her I already Googled it and there's nothing on the internet about turtle scratches. She came back and said I was right. She prescribed a 40.00 antibiotic ointment and OTC fungicide and said if it doesn't clear up in 5 days come back.
After a week it started clearing up. By two weeks it was just a pink patch. Then I lost the tube of ointment somewhere at work. But it looked like it was healed up so I didn't think much of it.
In the meantime, Bank of America notified us they're foreclosing on the house if we don't give them 2K by the end of the month. But I have work and we might be able to pull it off if we don't pay anything else.
Two days ago the patch on my wrist started itching again, then the blisters came back. By work this morning it looked like it did two weeks ago. So, I stopped at the urgent care again on my way home from work to see if I could get a refill on the ointment prescription without having to pay for another office visit. No such luck.
The doctor was the same one who saw me two weeks ago. She said, that shouldn't happen... you probably have a systemic staph infection... its a good thing you lost that ointment. It cost another office visit and more money for a new prescription but I guess that means I'll live to work to keep my family in our house.
So bad news is good news is bad news is good news. We just have to hold out for the end of the sentence sometimes.

A Rare Occurence
I almost never link to other people's blogs, partly because there's a lot of cross-pollination among Ortho-bloggers anyway, if you're here, you've been "there" too. However, I am certain this blog is virtually unknown, I got the link from John who comments here once in a while. This is one of the best blog posts I've read in a long time.
