Well, of course it's about my life and stuff I think about. Just like a quadzillionbazillion other bloggers. I'm obsessed with God. I love beauty, enjoy absurdity, dance with despair, seek silence, and think everyone is goofy. Here's my world and what I think of it....

I sometimes refer to the Kiss of Peace as the Kissed to Pieces. :-) All the kissing is a bit of a culture shock because handshakes were the norm during my Lutheran upbringing.
khAsking most Ungay & Nolongerprotestant men to kiss another man (especially with ritual and symbolism involved) is about as high a crime as asking us to talk about our feelings. I thought both were prohibited by the Geneva Convention for being too cruel.
I'm teasing. I actually enjoy learning to do some new things (so long as we don't accidentally meet in the middle).
NiMS, LOL! Yeah, the "nose bump" with the Russians is a hazard... you need to ask "Left, Right Left", or "Right Left Right"? Sounds kinda militaristic doesn't it? That should "man it up" a little. :)
As usual, Curmudgeophan the Recluse is both helpful and direct. I have definitely had more awkward moments than not with the whole thing. This is what I get for being too New-World. Can't we just touch fingers together like Vulcans or something?
"And if you're a Baptist coming to save us, just kiss once.."
(I already regret posting this, but it recently happened to me).
So if we did the Vulcan thing would we use two or three fingers? :)
Anon, Hmmm, it just occurred to me we sing about single kissers. "Neither will I give thee "A KISS" as did Judas..."
I suspect Curmudgeophan would throw me out on my ears if I offered the generic Roman Catholic sign of peace handshake.
I like the wisdom Curmudgeophan is offering, S-P.
The Vulcan two or three fingers depends on what jurisdiction you are in.
Now just imagine what the Orthodox Church will have to do re jurisdictions when humans inhabit space. And we think the new Episcopal Assembly has a chore set out for them. Maybe we ought to ask the Ecumenical Patriarch to make some rules about it before we settle the galaxy to prevent it aforehand!!

The Holy Kiss becomes the Glasses Bonk in many circumstances. It means a bruised nose at Pascha
Try Yup'ik Orthodox for the right-left-right confusion! Right-left-left. And if you don't give the second left kiss in quick succession, you get a really weird look.
Exception: Elders. Just kiss on the lips. Yeah, it's a cultural thing.
Yup'ik Anon: You just made it really confusing. Just goes to show ya, if you're looking at Orthodoxy for consistency you better move along, there's nothing to see here. :)
