Parts of an Orthodox Church

(For all my friends who are "wandering in the desert").
"My soul thirsts for Thee in a land barren and untrodden and unwatered"... being led into the wilderness by the Spirit even happens in the Church.

Oh, yeah. Scorpions and all (among whom I am chief).

Not to mention all that very irritating sand. It just gets into everything.

Your censer is clearly on the wrong side.

I did that to annoy the liturgists... :)

I think desert is a very good term for that part. It's often hot, uncomfortable, inhospitable and you have to fight off bandits.

I think the altar area could be a little more interesting. After all it's not like priests are somehow exempt from the desert :)

PH, Indeed, that is why they come out of the altar, no one is exempt from wandering in it, even if they are carrying holy things around.... maybe ESPECIALLY if they are carrying holy things. After all, even God the Son left "heaven" and dwelt among us in the desert.

Very cool way of visualizing this concept. And I hope you're cool with my latest post.

NiMS, I'm very OK with your post, it was moving. Its not a topic many people are comfortable dealing with. Thanks.
