As far as I can tell the glass is full. It contains 50% water and 50% air.

you forgot:

REALIST (or FUNCTIONALIST): If draining the glass, it is half-empty. If filling the glass, it is half-full.

I am a realist: sooner of later, somebody is going to have to wash the glass. (and that is usually me.)

You are a genius. This is one of the best ones so far.

It is water, it is a glass. I am thirsty. I would like water. I need a container for my water. It is water in a glass. My needs of the moment are fulfilled.

My favorite is Hedonist, but I will not say why that is my favorite.

S-P,

How would we characterize someone who can readily identify 18 different ways to a view a glass of water?

I suspect that characterization might be similar to the person who sits and counts them? LOL! ; )

Anon, the bishops would never be that succinct. The word "water" would be translated into eighteen or so languages. This constitutes "unity". The English version would not be understood by anyone.
