You'll have to work for this one....

I guess the small piece at the bottom represents someone who is a free-spirit spiritually, someone in spirtual freefall or me on most Thursdays.

S-P,

The "C" is too large!

Good one.

To quote Stephen Colbert, "infallibly delicious". :)

s-p,

I'm curious, what does the section of 'B' that does not overlap with 'A' connote?

Sdn. Lucas, The Orthodox Church doesn't believe in "infallibility", and if you read the Fathers (and contemporary "Fathers") most (all) of them have things that are matters of opinion that others disagree with and some (most) of them taught things that the Church does not, or has even declared to be false, yet they are revered as a "Church Father". So, it's kind of like 100% of the Church Fathers are 90% "Orthodox".

S-P,

Quite so, but that explains the part of 'A' not included in 'B'.

I was wondering what that part of 'B' (i.e. Orthodox Faith/Dogmas) not included in 'A' (i.e. Church Fathers) might be? Thanks!

Ah... That's a mystery. :)

Oh rats, you played the 'M' card!

Steve Robinson said...

LOL! Yeah, if you don't play it too often you look smart. Actually, that is the answer. The dogmas of the Church don't exhaust the mystery of God, they merely put a fence beyond which someone cannot go. WITHIN the Church resides the "mystery hidden from the ages", but the mystery can never be fully explicated either by dogma or experience. The Fathers as well as ourselves apprehend some of it, but no one gets it all.

Yes, I had misunderstood the 'B' category too narrowly, taking it to mean 'the explicated, recorded teachings and dogmas of the Church'. Now it makes perfect sense; thanks for the clarification!

" 'M' Card: don't leave home without it."
