And s-p, there seems to be no nuance, no matter how un-discussed, about parish life or church etiquette that you have not noticed.
Attention, eager converts: It is unnecessary, in fact it is contra-indicated, to do a metania during post-communion prayers when you are in line to venerate the cross and someone is standing right behind you. I mean, think about it. And think of the person behind you. Thank you. That is all.

... or done. I think this was part of the Decoder Ring packet we were supposed to get after being recieved. So far no one I know has gotten theirs either.
Don't worry--if I do try to bow down that low, I can't straighten up. It is sad but true....sigh Alix
